Nintendo's latest earnings report contained plenty of good news for the company, including the revelation that the Nintendo Switch has now sold nearly 80 million units worldwide. Even more eye-popping, though, is the news that Animal Crossing: New Horizons- Nintendo Switch has hit gold with their latest Animal Crossing title, New Horizons. Nintendo launched the game on March 20, 2020, and it became an instant hit. According to the NPD Group, an American market-research company, New Horizons now ranks as the third highest-selling game in the first month of launch by Nintendo.

Almost exactly a year after its launch, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has sold seven million copies across Europe -- the largest first-year total for any Nintendo game in the region.
According to figures from Nintendo, the seven million sales of Animal Crossing: New Horizons represents one-third of all Switch owners in Europe. The figure includes both physical and digital units.
